Hi, I am new to this forum and looking for a few pointers. I have a 1.3 MPi mini that has been driving very well for the last few months. the other day in the middle of a journey it developed an annoying fault....whenever you come off the gas at traffic lights etc, the car drops to zero revs and stalls. The car will not sit and idle at all now. I can start it first time and get in a drive fine, but you have to sit and rev it at lights etc to keep it from stalling. Any idea where to start with this one? Could it be the air idle control valve? Any other things that I could check myself before taking it into a garage? Thanks in advance and hello to you all

It could be the idle control valve. But i would also check for any air leaks on the inlet manifold or any breather pipes that might have come off. Do you live in the Halifax area?

Yepp, like Ketchup said, check all your vac pipes for leaks.
Splits in the elbow joints are a common problem!

garage in Halifax seemed to think my head gasket was gone. The dealer I bought the car from has agreed to fix it under warranty as it happened only weeks after buying the car. I wil keep you posted. He told me that i should have a working car back tomorrow. Fingers crossed!
Do you guys meet up to chat cars and stuff?
