Well, I am no longer in need of my MG, i bought the car in september as my mini got written off, i have used the car as a daily for my work placement which i have now finished, so i am no longer in need of a daliy driver, and im also wanting to get my mini back on the road.
the car is a 1971 facelift model, and so it sports the centre console and overdrive which works in both 3rd and 4th gear. it is Teal blue with a full leatherette autumn leaf interior. outside it has the chrome bumpers and factory chrome rostyle wheels including a spare, which are rarer, being chromed. it has an 1800cc engine, and i think a stainless link pipe and backbox which sounds great but is still quiet inside.
the car is very original only non original being the fitment of a radio and speakers in the doors. the interior is average with the seats being well sat on and a few rips but nothing major, the drivers door card is slightly sagged, i think it has got wet....
when i got the car it had 82000 on the clock and was puffing blue from the exhaust and running rough. i stripped the engine and it has had new piston rings, new valve guide seals, new sump gasket and sump plug, reground , a new clutch, diophram, and thrust bearing, and an SU rebuild kit on the carbs which included all new seals and gaskets, jets, spindles and butterflys, floats and foat pins. i also replaced the coil, points and condenser, plugs, leads and distributor cap.
the previous owner had fitted a brand new fuel tank which is still very shiny, he had also fitted a new fuel pump and two new batteries (uses 2 6V) he also gave me two rust free wins and two rust free doors that i was planning on fitting but never got round to it, they will need painting, but they are bolt on items. i had some welding done for the MOT on the drivers floor, assenger sill area, drivers rear leaf spring mount and the crossmember. also for the MOT i fitted some H4 headlamps as the sealed beams were blown... the bodywork is average with the wings and doors letting it down, but as said replacements are included, there are a few bubbles and scabs around but it is pretty solid for its age. i have bought 4 datsun alloys which i planned on running the car on, they can be included in the sale if wanted...
i have done nearly 3000 miles and the car has run very well, only the brakes letting me down which have had money spent on them replacing the master cylendar and the rear wheel cylendars, included in the sale are new and boxed rear shoes and front pads.
now some pitures!
i have really enjoyed this car and will be sad to see it go, however i really miss my mini and while its been fun i really want to get the mini up and running again!
i bought the car for £850 and have spent well over £600 on it, up to now. it is very usable as it is with an MOT until september 2010, with the wings and dors sprayed it would be a great car. i have some old MOT's and service papers from when it was new until about 1986.
i am asking for £1300 ono.
thanks.
Ed
