well.... as you may or may not know, my trusty daily known as 'the bean' got punched by a skoda in August last year and was written off... I bought an MGB GT for a change, but it was expensive to run and i missed mini ownership... I sold the MG and was on the lookout for another mini, when the offer of a minus came up, I just couldnt refuse! so i collected it the next day! that was on the day of collection, then the work started: Engine out, it wont be staying, its a 998 auto.... Stripped the interior, the seats were nasty, as was everything else.... lol loom out and everything else! Engine bay stripped rear subby out and stripped... the rear subframe is good as are the radious arms... brakes and backplates are shot.... it has copper brake pipes and goodridge hoses! Win!! lol so thats it for now! more soon! promise! plans are to make him look as standard as possible, retro of course.... Willow green all over, 10" wheels of some sort.... hope you all like! Ed

so today: pulled, out some nasties like this 'washer' that held the bonnet hinge in the scuttle... lol, the wheel arches came off as i wasnt a fan... lots of filler there to get them smoothed into the body i then got the bulkhead stripped completely, i filled the holes i didnt want with P40... one of the only cars where thats allowed im sure! lol I bought some fibreglass matting and resin and repaired the slam panel where it had been cut... im guessing that is due to getting the engine out or something? the gap at the front was filled with P40 and then sanded ready for body filler... i also blanked off the filler neck as it had a custom tank in, and was in a random place, ill be using a standard tank and a new hole will have to be cut.... it was also treated to P40 and sanded ready for bodyfiller... more tomorrow! a mix of yesterday and today!! the doors needed to come off, and i was faced with this: tiny tiny holes to get those pesky door bolts off! finally got the doors off, after digging out chunks of silicone.... tisk stripped them, they are pretty good actually! the Gf (Maya) started on the body prep and finally, what would you do about these cracks? just fill them? or cut it and put some more fibreglass in?? so, last day tomorrow before im back down to uni... boooo.... ill be back up at the end of may, so it should be all go when im back! after much sanding i have done the scuttle... taken about 3 days but im very happy! got the wings flatted back and part of the roof, started on the quater panels, the front is a bit of a mess, few cracks and lots of holes drilled for grills etc... i also cleaned up the subframe ready for some paint i dropped off my passenger seat to get re-trimmed as the drivers too... yes.... why? can you not see how smooth it is??? gosh, there is no pleasing some people, the amount of cracks i had to file out and drill hole at the end.... cracked fibreglass is about as annoying and as time consuming as rusty steel....
ive done the quater panels and flatted the roof too... filled the front.... its very annoying and time consuming....
